What an awesome privilege to be part of Casper and Daniela’s wedding. Since the first day i met up with Daniela and her sister, i knew this was going to be one special day. They are such an awesome team and i loved all the detail that went into their day. The “semi outside” reception was such a treat after a hot day.
Thanks you thank you thank you Casper and Daniela, I enjoyed photographing you so much. (You will see i blogged way too many, but couldn’t choose!)
Blessings!!!!!

Ross and Magriet is such a blessing. If you’ve met them, you want to know them better. They genuinely cares about the people around them and they certainly has had an impact on my life. Ross is a paster at Shofar Christian Church (Tygerberg) and Magriet is a doctor. But ultimately, they are just 2 people who really love God, making a difference in this world.
Geniet julle kiekies!!!

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed as I’m sitting here. Its by birthday i am being overflowed by love, care, grace, encouragement, presents, phone calls, facebook messages, prayers, thoughts and… and… and… There literally is just one thing that can top all of this and that is the fact that God came (AGAIN) and told me that He loves me. And nothing can change that fact. Not even that i often run away from that very love, because my heart just cannot grasp that the King could love ME that much. So yes, I’m overwhelmed, but thankful and ready for what God has in store for me this year.
Thanks to every single one who is adding so much to my day!
And just because i know my earthly dad would have phoned me too today, here is a jewel of a photo i found of him:

Every family has a flavour….and i like the flavour of this one! It’s incredible how gentle and with how much respect Golo and Ina talk to their children. Since this family is from Sweden, we planned a beach shoot for them. What we did not plan was HECTIC wind. When i got there i though i would have to look for another spot very quickly, but when the family arrived, they acted like this wind was 100% normal and great conditions to do the famiy shoot in. There were also tons of fish in the bay, which was a magnet to fishermen, seabirds and loads of seals. In the end of the day, the wind really did add his flavour too. Wind + the Schmidt family = grrrreat combo! Also, soon you will get to see the pictures on my blog of their intimate wedding a couple of weeks after this shoot!
Enjoy Ina, Golo, Freyja and Thora and thanks for just being awesome to meet. When you come to SA again, please come visit!

Wade and Bianca are such gentle people. (Gentle people with energy!) It was so much fun seeing how they enjoyed the day, even though the wind blew like crazy. The just relaxed and had an awesome day with their friends and family. It was so much fun getting to know you a bit better Wade and Bianca! Please let me know if you ever renew your vows!

So you have met MG and Tjaart, but here is one of my 2 sisters, Annelle! (Ok stepsister, but actually i do think we rrrrrreally are sisters, ok!?)
Annelle is one of the kindest, warmest, big-hearted girls I’ve ever met. There is not much of a chance of something like personal space with her; she jumps right into your heart. She has listened to endless stories and challenges of mine while sitting in the bath. We’ve shared many tears, she has made me laugh like only a sister can and is always-always-always willing to listen.
To be in BJ’s and Annelle’s company, is pure joy. And i cannot wait for their wedding! I will be walking down the isle (as a bridesmaid) too. #superexcited!
Geniet julle kiekies! Ons maak weer so op julle 50ste huweliksherdenking, ok!
xxx

Hello 2012!
2 of my friends got married towards the end of last year. It was SUCH an awesome experience to witness their wedding. I would never have thought that my afrikaans friend that barely spoke a word of english while studying an english coarse, would marry an “engelsman!” But surely God is the perfect match maker!!!!! So lief vir julle Neitjie en Duncan!
Wil Punt (Peartree) was the photographer and did such an awesome job, please follow THIS LINK to have a look. Anné asked me to just take a few shots, which i mainly did before the wedding. Enjoy!

Geniet julle foto’s!

The previous time I saw Matthew and Suraya was when they came so SA for their honeymoon in April 2010. They live in London, very close to the well known Paddington Station. Suraya is originally from Singapore. For their honeymoon shoot, we drove around in Cape Town, photographing them at different landmarks like the Bo-Kaap, Blouberg and Simonstown. (View the shoot HERE.) This time around, it was in London…with a little baby on it’s way! I stayed with Matthew and Suraya for 2 days and I don’t think anyone has every spoiled me as much. When i arrived, Suraya cooked us a traditional English meal with roast, Yorkshire-pudding and all! They also made me a hamper with snacks like Butterscotch sweets, tea from Harrods and Shortbread cookies. We went to the famous Portobello Market, Windsor, Harrods, Tower bridge and much more. We planned one “official” shoot in the most beautiful old market, Leadenhall Market. This space has been used in movie scenes and i can just see why. The rest of the time we just had fun and photographed wherever we went.
Matthew and Suraya, what a privilege to photograph you in London. Thank you so much for spoiling me, taking me to all these places that i’ve only seen on postcards and just being awesome to be around! And Suraya, as you said, hopefully we get to see each other again…when you are having a holiday in SA! I hope you enjoy these images as much as i enjoyed taking them. Lots and lots of blessings for you as a (soon to be) family.

I freaked out the first time i saw these frames in Vanessa’s workshop. I wanted to fill a whole wall in my room with a collection of these. But how much i like them, just cannot be described in my limited vocabulary. So i asked Vanessa if she would mind if i photograph and blog them. I hope you enjoy them as much as i do!!!!!

Ek hoop julle geniet julle foto’s BAIE.
Blessings!

It is my absolute favourite thing to build a relationship with whoever I photograph. This family i did not specifically meet through our first shoot, but our friendship certainly has grown through it!
It does not matter that the children did not really feel like the shoot the specific day. This family just always make me see a glimpse of what “family” means. Mom cannot stop talking good things about dad. Dad loves spending time with his loved family members. Together the parents do their best to raise their children in a godly way, so that they too will one day choose to have a living relationship with Jesus. The dog barks and mom will never be able to clean up or pack away everything fast enough to be one ahead of everything that is happening at once. When i look at it, I can see so much love…so much chaos…and so much character being build, all at the same time. Lovit!!!! Enjoy Hugo and Theresa. I love you as a family to bits.
Here is the HISTORY of their shoots.
1st shoot: Theresa pregnant with their first child, Benjamin. (I didn’t have any form of site yet!)
2nd shoot: Benjamin as a baby. (I have an online preview for clients, but no branding or site yet.)
Click HERE to view this shoot.
3d shoot: Theresa pregnant with their second child, Katarien. (I have a site!)

Fourth shoot: Meet Katerien! ENjoy!!!

Rudi and Karen are close friends of my brother and Im sure many of you have met them, since they are the owners of the absolutely awesome KolKol accommodation and Restaurant in the mountains of Botriver. (Really, do yourself a favour and have a look at what they offer.)
They are the most welcoming couple and it’s always a joy being around them. So…needless to say, i had such a good time photographing them and their “soon to be here” son, Ruan.
If you maybe wonder about “ertjie” in the title. Before anyone knew that Karen was pregnant, my brother was organizing his 30th birthday. Karen replied, saying that Rudi and herself….and Ertjiepit (little pea-pod) will be there. What she didn’t realise, was that she “replied to all.” Since they have many mutual friends, the secret was out!
Enjoy Rudi and Karen and thank again for such a fun afternoon!
