After an awesome 3 weeks of almost doing nothing but fun stuff, I am back for the new season and somehow feel very excited about it! There are loads of new people to meet and lots of new photos to take!
This shoot was the first of the season and once again, what a way to start! Charlotte is a friend of mine and the master behind the design of my website! I am very sad that I will not be able to attend their wedding, but keep your eyes on the blog of their excellent photographer, Du Wayne Denton!
For the shoot we literally just drove to Cape Town and went wherever we wanted to go! Carlo could not stop talking about how much he hated posing, but in the end we had so much fun, he forgot all about his fears. If there is one thing that stands out in their relationship, it would be we way they can laugh together. It was so much fun with the 2 of you!

Alles was so lekker hierdie dag!

Matthew and Suraya were telling me about their wedding that was held in Singapore, and it sounded like a spectacular event! After all the planning and events, they decided they want to come to South Africa for their honeymoon. Neither of them have been to SA and we decided to do a road trip/shoot around Table Mountain. They only 3 places that was a must, was the Bo-Kaap and the penguins at Simonstown and something with table mountain in the back. So, stocked with Biltong and Koeksisters, we started off in the Bo-Kaap, went to Signal Hill, drove along Llandudno, Houtbaai, Chapmens Peak, Simonstown and then our final sunset destination, Blouberg with table mountain in the back. It was such a fun day with mr. Biltong and mrs. Koeksister!
I find it hard that we will probably never see each other again! But, here is the evidence of our little tour. (I felt like a real tour guide!)

There is a way in which Meg and Micheal look at each other that I love. It shows not only love, but also respect. Meg had all these awesome ideas for the shoot…and then i found out that she is an photographer too! No wonder! Thanks Meg and Michael, I had a great afternoon with the 2 of you!

What an awesome privilege to be a shooter at Christine Meintjes 2nd workshop! I caught myself often forgetting to take photos, because I could not help to get lost in what she was sharing. It was very practical and “user friendly” and the decor by Leipzig Floral Design was superb! I could not stop taking photos of that! When they had their shoot, my job was to document the group (an awesome group of people by the way!!!!) but I ended up sneakingly taking some photos of the really beautiful and well styled couple as well.
Here are some of my favorite shots of from the workshop:

Kristen (see her super dooper photography work here) emailed on the Thursday, asking if i would be able to do a pregnancy shoot for her and her husband, but that it needed to be done on the Thursday or Friday, since they are leaving for Holland again the Sunday. It happened that the shoot i had the Friday got postponed so I was able to meet them in Camps Bay for their shoot! Kristen is from Canada, David from USA and they live in Holland. I guess it did not really come as a surprise when she told me that she met David while traveling. It was awesome spending the afternoon with these two (and a half.) Kristen’s awesome outfit did so much for the shoot and I loved shooting in Camps Bay, since I have never done a shoot there before. Kristen and David, enjoy the photos and please keep me up to date with the name for your baby! Blessings!
(Oh, and before I forget! It was so weird! I have never met them before, they were only still in SA 2 days after the shoot, I have never been in Riebeek Wes before, but where would i run into kristen and David on Saturday just before i start shooting a wedding? In Riebeek Wes! CrAzY! Maybe I run into you again next year, hopefully at the WPPI where we both so desperately want to go!)

I could not take photos of Jared and Megan on their wedding day, but that did not stop up from having a great shoot!
You will see that there are 2 parts. The 2nd part I asked them if it would be ok if I test my new Radio Poppers that my friends Jaco le Roux brought back from USA for me. (He is a pro with flash photography. He showed me some pics he took of sheep in a land with flash the other day. Superb!) Anyway, 95% of my work I shoot natural light and only use flash where I really have to, like the reception part of a wedding. To say the truth, I am a bit scared of a flash. But that I changing now. I am practicing and learning and trying out new things. I do not think my style would ever change from using mainly natural light, but I really enjoyed exploring! Thanks Jared and Megan for allowing me to use you as my gunny pigs!

Maar wag ek kan heeldag bubble, iets wat ons opsom ons is redelik plain jane’s maar love something unique…”

Jonel is ‘n boesem maatjie van my. Sy is een van daardie vriendinne wat jy nie laat gaan as jy haar het nie. Sy het ‘n oor wat kan luister, ‘n hartjie wat deel en sy is regtig een van daardies wat jou skottelgoed sal was as almal al weg is. Dis great om haar in my lewe te he.
Ek waardeer julle twee ontsettend baie!

How could we not do a TTD (trash the dress) session with this awesome couple! This was Part I, the “safe” TTD. We went to Hout Bay for this shoot and the wind was crazy…but was so much fun. Part II will follow soon!
Thanks Neil and Laura, it was a great playing in the wind with the two of you!

Once again it was just such a privilege working with Ben and Marybeth. Weather wise we had everything from rain to a bit of soft sunlight breaking though the clouds. It was a great afternoon spend with 2 people that feel way more like friends than clients. Thanks you two!

I met both Gwen and Joel last year during my visit to USA. Joel is Marybeth’s brother and they decided to do a couple shoot in the time that I was still in the USA. I just love the energy the two of them have when they are together!
Thank you Gwen and Joel!
